How to Customize Stage Types

In this article, you'll learn how to add, rename, and manage stage types from Settings — and how your changes reflect in your reports.

What Are Stage Types?

Stage types are the categories your hiring stages belong to, they determine how candidate movement is tracked and reported across your pipeline. Previously, stage types were fixed and could only be selected from a predefined dropdown when setting up a job.

Now you can fully customize them from Settings.

How to Customize Stage Types

  1. Go to Settings from your dashboard.

  2. Find the Stage Types section.

  3. To add a new stage type: click + Add Stage Type, enter the name, and save.

  4. To rename an existing stage type: click the edit icon next to it, update the name, and save.

📌 Note: There is no limit on how many stage types you can create. Add as many as your hiring process requires.

💡 Tip: Set up your stage types before you start creating jobs. Since stage types are selected during job setup, having them configured in advance means your pipeline reflects how your team actually works from day one.

How This Affects Your Reports

Once your stage types are accurate, all stage-level data in the Reports module updates to reflect them:

  • Hiring Funnel — conversion rates and avg time in stage now reflect your actual stage structure

  • Disqualification report — stage breakdown now maps to your real pipeline stages

  • Any report with stage-level data — accurate to your customized setup

📌 Note: Changes to stage types apply to new jobs going forward. Existing jobs retain their current stage type assignments until manually updated.
