How to Combine Multiple Filters in Recruitera

Learn how to combine multiple filters in Recruitera — understand OR logic within categories and AND logic across categories to build precise candidate shortlists.

Recruitera's pipeline filters become most powerful when you combine multiple filter categories at once. Understanding how filters interact — within a category and across categories — helps you build precise shortlists without over-filtering or missing relevant candidates. All filter combinations apply instantly in real time.

How filter logic works in Recruitera

Within a single filter category — OR logic

When you select multiple values within the same filter category, Recruitera uses OR logic. Candidates matching any of the selected values are shown.

  • Example: Stage = "Phone Screen" OR "Interview" → shows candidates currently in either stage

  • Example: Source Tag = "LinkedIn" OR "Wuzzuf" → shows candidates from either source

Across different filter categories — AND logic

When you apply filters from multiple different categories simultaneously, Recruitera uses AND logic. Only candidates matching all selected categories are shown.

  • Example: Stage = "Interview" AND Status = "Qualified" AND Source = "LinkedIn" → shows only qualified LinkedIn candidates currently in the Interview stage

  • Example: Location = "Cairo" AND Questionnaire = "Has Not Answered" → shows only Cairo-based candidates who have not yet responded to their questionnaire

Combining filters with search

The search bar and filters also combine using AND logic. Active filters AND the search term must both match for a candidate to appear.

  • Example: Filter by Stage = "CV Screening" AND search for "Python" → shows only candidates in CV Screening whose CV or profile mentions Python

💡 Start with broad filters and narrow progressively. Apply one filter category at a time and watch how the candidate count changes — this helps you understand your pipeline distribution before committing to a shortlist view.

Frequently asked questions

How do multiple filters interact in Recruitera?

In Recruitera, selecting multiple values within the same filter category uses OR logic — showing candidates who match any of the selected values. Applying filters from different categories uses AND logic — showing only candidates who match all selected categories simultaneously. For example, selecting Stage = Interview and Source = LinkedIn shows only candidates who are both in the Interview stage AND came from LinkedIn.

Can I create complex filter combinations in Recruitera?

Recruitera supports combining as many filter categories as you need simultaneously. You can apply Status, Stage, Source, Location, Team, Screening Questions, Questionnaire, and search all at once. Each filter category narrows the results further. For the most complex queries — especially those involving free-text content — combine the structured filter sidebar with Boolean search in the search bar to achieve surgical precision over your candidate list.
