How to Evaluate a Candidate

Updated this week

Recruitera offers two types of evaluations to help your hiring team assess candidates:

Quick Evaluations and Evaluation Templates.

Each serves a different purpose and gives you flexibility in how you collect and standardize feedback.

1. Quick Evaluation (Stage-Based Recommendation)

Quick Evaluations allow stakeholders to give a fast, simple recommendation on a candidate at any stage of the hiring pipeline.

Where it appears

Inside the Candidate Profile, usually at the top or under the Evaluation tab.

  • Strong Yes

How it works

  • Any stakeholder can submit a quick evaluation at any stage.

  • Multiple team members can rate the candidate.

  • Recruitera calculates the average evaluation score per stage based on all submitted ratings.

  • You can instantly see how the candidate is perceived at each stage.

Best for

  • Fast opinions

  • Early-stage filtering

  • Quick alignment

  • Stakeholders who want to give feedback without filling a full form

2. Evaluation Templates (Structured Assessment Forms)

Evaluation Templates are customizable, structured forms used for deeper assessments β€” for example, after an interview or technical assessment.

What you can customize

  • Evaluation questions

  • Rating scales

  • Skills or competencies

  • Behavioral or technical criteria

  • Role-specific sections

  • Recommendation options

How it works

  1. Admins or hiring managers create Evaluation Templates for different roles or interview types.

  2. Stakeholders fill out the template during/after interviews or review sessions.

  3. Submitted evaluations appear under the Evaluation tab.

  4. Scores and comments are visible to all team members involved in the hiring process.

Best for

  • Structured interview feedback

  • Deep competency evaluation

  • Ensuring consistency and fairness

  • Standardizing hiring across teams or departments

  • Detailed comparisons between candidates

How Scores Are Displayed
