How WhatsApp message pricing works
WhatsApp Hiring uses META's Business API. This means message costs are charged directly by META to your META Business account — they are separate from your Recruitera subscription fee.
Recruitera does not mark up, resell, or invoice for META message costs. You pay META directly.
The two types of conversations
META charges based on conversation type, not individual messages.
Candidate-initiated conversations (free)
When a candidate messages your company's WhatsApp number first, a 24-hour service window opens. All messages sent and received within this window — including bot replies, recruiter messages, and template messages — are completely free.
This means the majority of your candidate interactions will cost nothing, as long as you respond within 24 hours of the candidate's first message.
Business-initiated conversations (charged)
When you send a message to a candidate outside the 24-hour window — or when you initiate contact first — you must use an approved template. These are charged per message based on the template category.

What this means in practice
For most companies, WhatsApp Hiring costs are very low. A company receiving 1,000 applications per month via WhatsApp — where candidates message first — will pay close to zero in message costs for the intake and screening flow.
Costs increase if you run outbound marketing campaigns (job alerts, re-engagement) using Marketing templates. Plan your template categories accordingly.
