Setting Up Your META Business Portfolio

A step-by-step guide to creating a META Business Portfolio — required before connecting WhatsApp Hiring to Recruitera.

Why you need a META Business Portfolio

WhatsApp Hiring connects directly to META's Business API. This means your company's WhatsApp number is registered and managed through META — giving you an official, company-branded channel instead of a personal phone.

Before you can connect WhatsApp Hiring in Recruitera, you need a META Business Portfolio set up and verified.

What you'll need

  • A Facebook account (personal account is fine — it's used for admin access only)

  • Your company's legal business name

  • A business email address

  • A brand new phone number that has never been registered on WhatsApp — personal or business. This will become your company's dedicated WhatsApp Hiring number.

Important: Do not use a number that already has a WhatsApp account on it. It must be completely new to WhatsApp. If your company already uses a WhatsApp number for marketing, get a separate number for hiring.

Step 1 — Create your META Business Portfolio

  1. Click Create account

  2. Enter your business name, your name, and your business email address

  3. Follow the prompts to verify your email

  4. Your META Business Portfolio is now created

Step 2 — Add your WhatsApp Business number

  1. Inside your META Business Portfolio, go to Business Settings

  2. Click WhatsApp Accounts in the left sidebar

  3. Click Add and follow the steps to add your new phone number

  4. You'll receive a verification code via SMS or phone call to confirm the number

  5. Complete the verification

Step 3 — Set up your WhatsApp Business profile

  1. Add your company name as it should appear to candidates

  2. Upload your company logo as the profile photo

  3. Add a business description so candidates know who they're talking to

Once your META setup is complete

Go back to Recruitera and head to Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp Hiring → Connect. You'll be redirected to META to complete the integration. See the next article for the full connection steps.
